Dickinson doctor accused of shooting cyclist

072606_share.jpgSo here's something you don't hear about every day: In Dickinson, a doctor is accused of randomly shooting a bicyclist from his car. According to KPRC, Wameeth Fadhli, 33, was arrested yesterday for shooting a 22-year-old man in the chest and shoulder as the pair drove and cycled in the 3300 block of Avenue C in Dickinson:

Deputies said the victim was riding a bicycle in the 3000 block of Avenue C near when Fadhli allegedly pulled alongside him and fired numerous shots.

The man was taken to UTMB in Galveston for treatment.

Witnesses called 911 and gave deputies a description of the shooter and the vehicle he was driving.

Deputies tracked the vehicle to a home about a mile away from the shooting scene.

Fadhli was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held in the Galveston County Jail. Police say they have no idea why he shot the cyclist — and though we imagine it was an isolated incident, we don't think we'll be taking our bike down to Dickinson anytime soon, just to be on the safe side.
