Houstonist loves burgers — bacon cheeseburgers, to be specific (and please drag it through the garden, because we love all the typical burger accoutrements, too). Sure, there are larger chain-type burger joints that are perfectly yummy, but we give our props to the "Mom & Pops" that serve up not only better burgers, but also warm fuzzies from supporting local businesspeople.
In that spirit, we're kicking off a series of burger reviews. Today, we're listing, in no particular order, the names of some of our favorite places that will be up for review in the coming weeks. Don't see your favorite here? Let us know with a comment and we'll add it to our list. (Yes, we know not everyone is as fond of beef and bacon as we are; in deference to you, we'll note non-beef burger alternatives when they're available.)
So, without further ado, some of our most favorite burger joints:
• Annie's Hamburgers (where the above-pictured lovely was captured)
• Lankford Grocery & Market
• Christian's Totem/Christian's Tailgate Bar
• Miller's Cafe
• Roznovsky's Hamburgers
• Roadster Grill
• Bellaire Broiler Burger
• Bubba's Texas Burger Shack
• Bubba's Sports Bar & Grill
We are hard at work researching local "best of lists" and contemplating that personal trainer we will need after completing our very own Top Ten Burgers list. Aren't we in shape? Sure we are — round is a shape, right?

Burger Tex
It's not a three-pound, juicy behemoth, but the Avalon Diner's burger is an excellent diner-style burger. Better with a chocolate milkshake!
Don't forget the burger at Guy's Meat Market on O.S.T. The place is a traditional butcher shop, but they serve yummy burgers (and BBQ) weekdays during the noon hour. Definitely worth a trip!
Ooo yeah. I can't wait to try out your list!
i like tookie's over near kemah. they add a hint of wine to the pattie. gives it a unique taste.
this guy did a lot of burger reviews, though he covers the state of texas.

Latisha is correct, when on the west side Burger Tex gets it done! Besides the beef and buffalo, you may want to try the Bulgogi burger too.
You have gotta try Ottos Burgers, they are the Best!

I forgot about Market Square Grill downtown. Their blue cheese burger is a favorite of mine.
Someburger in the Heights, grilled buns, need I say more?
becks prime! (chain, but a houston one!)
Guy's Meat Market got a mention...kudos!They ARE yummy and drippy good too. Also worth checking out is Pete's Fine Meats over on Richmond Ave. if still in operation..it's been a while since I checked them out for a burger. My one and only "craving that burger" stop is Langfords. Keep up your fine investigative burger reporting. You might sway me otherwise.
I just tried that Triple Prime Burger I've been seeing advertised on Tv,from Ruby Tuesday (only Houston location at this writing is near Willowbrook Mall).
Delicious, but too small at 1/2 pound. I wished for a double-meat version.
