Mayor's daughter arrested for alleged DWI

080106_dwi.jpgSo one bad thing about being an elected official's kid is that, if you screw up, everyone finds out about it. Elena White should know: The mayor's 17-year-old daughter was arrested early this morning for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

It happened at about 12:15 a.m. in the 9800 block of Memorial Drive, within a mile of the White house. According to KPRC, Elena White was pulled over because her headlights weren't on; she failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a Breathalyzer test.

"Our daughter Elena is a fine young person who we love and who made a bad decision, violating household rules and possibly the law," according to Mayor Bill White. "It is good that she was treated with impartiality and we are glad she is safe.''

Elena White, one of the mayor's three kids, worked until Friday teaching math in a summer program for seventh graders, according to the mayor's statement. At least we know what drove her to drink.
