Wednesday
A new twist to the whole emo-rock craze: a female vocalist. Well, it’s about time. Rosematter hails from York, Penn., while their stage partners Mile High School is from Yorktown, Va. Coincidence? We think not.
8 p.m. at Super Happy Fun Land | tickets and info

On L.A. rappers Jurassic 5’s (there are actually six of them) latest release, they team up with Dave Matthews Band. Not something you’d expect from a hip-hop band, but they aren’t your usual hip-hop/rap band. X-Clan opens the show.
8 p.m. at Warehouse Live | tickets and info

Thursday
Folk, Americana, alt.country, whatever you want to call it, they all describe the trio Sidehill Gougers. You can enjoy the south central Texans’ music with a side of ribs tonight. Perfect!
8 pm. at the Armadillo Palace | info

Friday

While we’re on the Texas country subject, Cory Morrow has been pleasing the state's country fans since he began jamming with college bud Pat Green over a decade ago. Tonight, you can see his “free” show (free, plus admission to the park), and gamble at the same time.
9 p.m. at Sam Houston Race Park | info

Saturday
We love Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. In the music business for over 25 years, their now giving the industry the middle finger, and playing what they want – which is consistently good rock and roll. Trey Anastasio (of Phish) opens.
7:30 p.m. at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | tickets and info

Sunday
Eric Elbogen is the force behind Say Hi To Your Mom. The New York City band just released their latest indie-op album Impeccable Blahs. Good stuff.
8 p.m. at Walter’s on Washington | tickets and info

Most people only know him for his ten year old hit “Barely Breathing,” but Virginia’s Duncan Sheik is still writing great pop songs. However, his music does tend to get more moody these days. Come to the show, and you’ll also be treated to a rising talent, Vienna Teng.
8 p.m. at Warehouse Live | tickets and info
