The shot from flickr user and houstonist photo contributor erinen31.
Here's a picture, as erinen31 notes, of one of the few totally intact old blue-and-white Houston street markers. You can find these — or remnants of them, anyway — all over Inner Loop neighborhoods; they're a reminder of a day when people would actually take the time to inlay tiny tiles into curbs (and drivers would actually drive slowly enough to look at them). Unfortunately, these markers tend to disappear whenever road work is done, so we'd better enjoy them while we can. (This one's at the corner of Berthea and Mt. Vernon, where there's also this great vintage concrete pylon marker, another dying breed.)
