We've wondered before whether those thick sheets of glass around ticket offices, teller cages and whatnot really work — and apparently, they do, as two would-be robbers at a north Houston amusement center found out overnight.
It happened at the Zuma Fun Center (formerly Celebration Station) near Rankin and Kuykendahl just after midnight. Police say two masked men broke into the building through an unlocked window and found an employee counting money inside a "locked cage with thick glass walls." They demanded money from the employee, who refused, so the erstwhile bandits opened fire — but the glass kept their bullets from doing any harm. Oops!
The suspects left on foot; according to KTRK, the employee called 911 and police are now reviewing surveillance tape of the incident.
