Here come the Men (and Women) in Black

081406_meninblack.jpgFor the former Foley’s employees that are surviving the Macy’s transition in Houston, they may want to dust off their Who Moved My Cheese? book. It looks like another change is coming down the pipeline for them, and all other Macy employees around the nation – they must wear black.

The retail chain is ushering in this new requirement to make their employees more recognizable out on the sales floor. However, the idea has touched a nerve with some employees, who now have to sell more items so they can spend their commission check on new black attire. Also, some analysts say that this could hurt Macy’s ability to hire part time workers this holiday season, since these temporary employees will have to follow suit (no pun intended).

Unfortunately, we all know about dress codes. Houstonist hates having to wear ties and (for our female-ists) pantyhose to work in the summer, but hey, that’s just how things are. We think it would be awesome to take the black attire idea further and make the employees wear ninja gear.
