The story of Ashton Glover, the Sugarland teen who was murdered in early July, received tons of media coverage, including right here in Houstonist. Her friends have still been frequent visitors to her myspace page, leaving her birthday wishes and notes telling her how much she is missed. And now there's going to be a memorial concert to raise money to help her family and to put up a permanent memorial outside of her school, Clements High, to make sure she is always remembered.
One of the event organizers, Jourdan Weltman, said “Ashton made such an impact on everyone’s lives”, and help raising money at the benefit will be greatly appreciated. The day is going to kick off at 2 p.m. on August 19 at Oyster Creek Park in Sugarland. It’s free to get in, and you’ll have a chance to see 10 bands from Texas including Sevrin (the band who initiated the benefit), Rhenium, Advent and Chrome 44. And if you get hungry while you’re checking out the show, Pepperoni’s Pizza and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream will be on hand.
