Three more rape charges for Junious, but still no break in murder case

080806_suspect.jpgBilford Junious, an accused rapist and person of interest in a string of murders in the Acres Homes area, is facing three new sexual assault charges, KHOU reports. Junious was arrested Aug. 4; he appeared in court yesterday, and police say he's confessed to a total of seven sexual assaults.

Junious has not been charged with murder, nor has he apparently been linked directly to any of the killings, but his basic description matches that of the Acres Homes killer (or one of the killers, depending on how things work out): he's a black man with a shaved head and a tattoo of the scales of justice on his arm, a tattoo like one the murder suspect (shown in the composite here) reportedly has. And it seems Junious has been armed: In the first rape charge brought against him, for an incident May 31, the victim said he had a shotgun, and prosecutors say the three new charges involve a knife.

Investigators are waiting for DNA evidence collected from the six murdered women to come back from the lab. Junious is expected back in court in early September.
