I see that 70% of the ratings on ratemyteachers are positive. If you go through the site, it doesn't seem like a place for angry students (who probably do not really care enough to post something anyway).

I think, as mentioned, this will be much more useful for the college students than the high school students. Good grief what insightful things will a middle school student say. I think it will be a lot of what Mr. Skin mentions. If they are mad up goes the bad review, if they like you they are nice. And yes of course I looked myself up! I wasn't there. Yet.

Its' a GREAT idea, however it will be abused by the angry kids and I don't know how to stop that one.

As a returning college student after a 18 year break, ratemyprofessor.com was extremely helpful in selecting course sections. I took everything with a grain of salt - after all, you don't want to listen to just the students that are bitter after failing a class. Fortunately, students leave good, inciteful reviews too. I found every assessment there to be pretty accurate, and I was thankful to have had the help in advance.
