The shot from flickr user and Houstonist photo contributor Phototainable.
This shot, from one of our favorite photographers, captures a piece of Houston architectural history that, once torn down, most people wont complain about. Information from the author:
"The second of my entries for Houston it's Worth it: Whenever I drove along Westheimer this particular advertising board used to make me laugh, especially the hopeless lettering at the bottom that never seemed to make any sense. Well imagine when I discovered that the strip mall that these boards advertised was being torn down. I had to capture this on camera for posterity, perhaps years from now people will look back at photos like these and comment; "Wow do you remember the days when the Houston skyline was littered with ugly advertising towers", but then again isn't there something that we just love about these cheesy towers; they make driving around town so entertaining!
UPDATE: This tower still hasn't come down, the whole face of the mall has gone but not the advertising!:
