The shot from flickr user and Houstonist photo contributor Laanba.
Ah, Dessert Gallery. That most delicious of vices with a treat for each forgotten resolution. Laanba, with this angle, casts the display case as the bright jewel against the dark interior. This is what Dessert Gallery does so well, particularly the one on Kirby. Most sweet shops are nothing but bright colors and light (not isn't always a bad thing), which detracts from the centerpiece.
This also allows us to bring up this point: You can get a cupcake composed of yellow cake with chocolate chips in it, or a chocolate cake cupcake with chocolate chips on top, but you can't get a chocolate cupcake without chocolate chips. Not that we'd want one, it's just odd.

Missed Connections: Gefilte Fish...and "Chain Connections"

I just knew Houstonist wouldn't be able to resisit. I want to go back with a filter to get rid of glare. The glare is over my favorite cake! (yellow with chocolate frosting...)
