"I'm Batman, but you can call me Bob"

060830_bob.jpgWe wonder if your regular Pub Fiction patrons even understand the treat they’re in for tonight when Bob Schneider plays a free show, courtesy of the Houston Press. The Austinite has only released two major CD’s since he left The Scabs and Ugly Americans, but they are both so good that it’s amazing that the rest of the country hasn’t caught on to him yet.

That may change. Bob is currently opening for the Dixie Chicks, giving him maximum exposure. Sure, you can usually see him at the Mucky Duck, Warehouse Live, or Meridian every month or so around here, but free? Unheard of – until now.

Bob Schneider quietly released a new CD earlier this month. Unlike the other two, this one captures his harder edge that you usually get live with him and his band. It sounds like he's trying to be himself more, instead of searching for a hit like he did with 2004's I'm Good Now (which is still an excellent album).

This will be a solo show, so it will be tamer than his full band concerts. But, he'll probably still throw in a few of his raunchy songs from his days with The Scabs.

An added bonus: you’ll get to see Bob with his new shaved head.
