The soon-to-close Helios rocks Houston's longest running poetry open mic (since 1996!), so come experience it before it's too late. It starts at 8, and you have to sing up before 9 if you want to read. Free, and Helios makes great drinks. (Try the white russians. Even if you don't normally drink white russians.)
Thursday, September 7
There's a kitty cat exhibit at the MFAH. And admission's free today. Come see the works, culled from the Museum's collection, that celebrate our feline friends. It's a small exhibit, so bring the kids even if their attention span isn't the best. It's a great intro to a fantastic Houston institution.
