If you've ever thought to yourself, "Self, I wish I could live right next door to a Target store so I could go there all the time," have we got some exciting news for you: Houston-based developer Martin Fein Interests is building a four-story loft project at Sawyer Heights, the new Target-anchored shopping center at I-10 and Taylor in the First Ward.
The building will be located at 2424 Spring St. on the site of a couple of the older industrial buildings being cleared from the area. Inside, it sounds like the lofts will be pretty typical: simulated wood floors (!) in living areas, carpet in bedrooms, granite countertops, custom cabinets ... y'know, all the stuff you could find in Midtown. We haven't seen a rendering of the outside of the building, but it's being designed by Steinberg Design Collaborative, the firm that brought you the Royalton on Allen Parkway and the Ventana in Midtown. Be warned.

Missed Connections: November 2 - 5

Ooooh, simulated wood floors, next to Target, what more could you ask for?
Once the Chic-fil-a opens, that area will officially be as bland and boring as the rest of the inner loop. Lucky us.
Guess the Pig Stand will be the next thing torn down. Maybe they can build a Barnes and Noble on the site.
