Clarence Greenwood is the leader of the band Citizen Cope, but he might as well be a solo artist. He is the songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist, and producer of the band. Over the past few years, his popularity has grown with critics and music fans, and he’s now touring for his new CD Every Waking Moment.

The Californian quartet Sugarcult increased their exposure last year opening up for Green Day on their national tour. The alternative-pop fan band will please most of Green Day and Fall Out Boy bands. The Spill Canvas, Halifax, Maxeen, and So They Say open.

Before Garth Brooks stormed onto the country scene in 1989, Randy Travis was the one artist bringing country music back to its roots. His star faded during the 90’s, but his fans still adored his baritone voice. Lately, he’s been dipping into the traditional southern gospel genre, but will still play his hits.

Friday
Ozomatli is a good example of a band with members from different backgrounds joining together to make something unique. You’ll hear a blend of Latin, hip-hop, rock, jazz and funk in their music. The Los Angeles band scored a minor hit last year with “(Who Discovered) America?”

Musicians come and go so quick these days that you almost have to call Sheryl Crow a classic now. Hell, even though he’s only been on the scene for five years, you can almost say the same for John Mayer. Not a bad pop double-bill.

Houston’s Lonestar Pornstar may be on their way to bigger, better things. They recently signed a deal that will distribute their CD’s nationally. The funk-rock band headlines the show tonight at Fitz.
