If Houstonist ever decides to retire from the blogging business, we think we might spend the rest of our days compiling books of life rules we've learned from watching the news in Houston. You know, like if you're carrying two tons of pot, make sure all the lights on your vehicle are in working order and if you're looking for a lost dog, don't look in Pearland. And today, we can add another: If you happen to be driving around in the buff, it's not a good idea to get out of your car to retrieve something from the trunk. At least not in front of kids.
We learned that because of a Sept. 27 incident in Sugar Land. That night, three kids riding bikes near Cabeza Drive and Paleo Court saw a nude man get out of his car and take something from the trunk. When one of the kids screamed, the man got back in the car and sped off — and honestly, we don't blame him. We imagine driving nude has enough perils without screaming kids ruining your night — you know, like skin sticking to leatherette upholstery (though the night of Sept. 27 was actually pretty nice, so maybe the guy wasn't too worried about that).
The suspect was described as a slender white male in his late teens or early 20s between 5 feet, 7 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall with collar-length brown curly hair. He was seen leaving the area in a blue, mid-sized sedan. Anyone with information about the incident should call Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281.342.TIPS.
