Looks like you guys out to the north could be in for some rough weather today: Several northern counties in the Houston area are under a tornado watch until 2 p.m. as rain moves through.
The line of severe weather is still out near Bryan, but should be in Houston by lunchtime, when the forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of rain in the city. The rain could continue all afternoon and into the evening, with temperatures reaching the lower 80s; meteorologists say the tornado watch could move southeast into Houston.
After the rain moves through, we'll be left with a partly cloudy, warm Wednesday, with a high near 90. A cool front Thursday will drop the temperatures for the weekend, giving us the first real taste of fall-like weather: highs of 69 on Friday and 70 on Saturday. And next week: Back to the mid-to-upper 80s. (You'd better get used to the rain, though: El Nino is back, and forecasters say he'll bring us a fairly mild, wet winter. Ugh.)
