Houston Tops For Relocating Singles

101106_cages.jpgJust when you thought you should move to Dallas Austin because all of your single friends keep telling you how kickass it is, Worldwide ERC and Primacy Relocation name Houston a top destination for relocating singles in their annual report.

In fact, Texas fared well as a whole in the survey (must be our 800+ miles of I-10) with seven metropolitan areas represented. Three cities were in the Top 10: Austin (#2), Houston (#5) and Dallas (#9). San Antonio (#38), El Paso (#45) and Fort Worth/Arlington (#47) were in the Top 50 with the McAllen/Edinburgh/Mission triplex landing in 87th place.

The 100 city listing is based on data compiled by Sterling's Best Places. Supposedly, the statistics indicate how much a city won't suck predicted success for a single person in the months following transfer to a new location. The stats include predictors that you might expect like rent, night life, male-to-female ratios, and entertainment options. There are also a few left field data points like per capita rates for the level of volunteering and online dating, as well as the "number of Starbucks."

We already knew that Houston was better than Dallas. Now we've got proof. Must have been the Starbuck's corridor on Shepherd that sealed the deal.
