This Week in Texans Opponents

101306_dallas.jpgNFL Countdown's Michael Irvin and Tom Jackson. Sherlock Holmes and Professor Moriarty. G.I. Joe and Cobra. Terrell Owens and reality. What do the Texans and Cowboys have in common with these famous duos? They're all mortal enemies (though we're not entirely sure if Owens and reality have met) and will do anything to achieve victory.

This weekend's game versus the Cowboys is a continuation of the battle for the hearts and minds of Texas fans, and promises to be one the most anticipated matchups not involving longhorns. As expected, the Cowboys are heavily favored, but don't count out the rested Texans because of the Five Things You Must Know About the Dallas Cowboys.

1. Drew Bledsoe is still Dallas' quarterback.
The burgeoning quarterback controversy hasn't forced Parcell's hand just yet, so the Texans' secondary may have a career day if Bledsoe starts this game like he ended the last one. Mario Williams and the rest of the defensive line may also have a lot to smile about, as Bledsoe's mobility is equal to a tackling dummy and has a disturbing habit of counting 10 mississippis before getting rid of the ball.

2. TO is calling for the ball, again.
The Cowboys will undoubtedly be looking to attack the 32nd ranked Texans pass defense, and TO looks to be a big part of that plan. While it's likely TO will make a significant impact, it's just as likely his sideline tantrums will continue to the detriment of the whole team.

3. Dallas is vulnerable to the deep ball.
While Dallas Safety Roy Williams has made a living prowling the line of scrimmage and shellacking defenseless receivers, he is not great in downfield coverage. Look for the Texans to take a couple shots deep to keep Williams and other defensive backs honest and from loading up on our running backs.

4. Bill Parcells is temperamental.
If Bledsoe completes a pass to a Texan, and we guarantee he will at least once, will Parcells insert backup QB Tony Romo? If so, the Texans' chance for an upset gets another boost.

5. Mike Vanderjagt is Dallas' kicker.
Vanderjagt has been injured and hasn't been on Parcell's good side. A couple of missed kicks by the former Colt could provide much needed momentum for the Texans. Also, was anyone else amused to see Vanderjagt consoling TO last week?
