Houstonist Flickr Photo of the Day - Mother Nature Returns to Houston

Mother Nature Returns to Houston

The shot from flickr user and Houstonist photo contributor phototainable.

We'd be shirking our duty if we didn't include this great, timely shot that captures the abundance of rain dropped on the city. Most of the area to the left side of the bayou is walkable, if that gives you any idea of just how bad the short-lived flooding was. Excellent detail from the photog:

"This picture is taken from a bridge looking onto dowtown at 6:48 pm local time. The storm has finally passed, however the rain water in the Bayous is close to overflowing. .. Also look bottom left at the lamp that illuminates the now submerged footpath! I'm guess that there is about 15-20ft between the regular level of the Bayou and today."

So if you're going to walk along the bayou today, make sure to bring a canoe.
