The Texans are who we thought they were

101806_dallas.jpgThanks to Dennis Green and the Cardinal's debilitating loss on Monday, bloggers everywhere have the perfect slogan for their struggling sports team. After watching the 34-6 loss to Dallas, the Texans are indeed who we thought they were - an improved team under Gary Kubiak who can compete for a quarter or two, but will ultimately struggle to surpass mediocrity due to personnel woes. While we don't recommend firing coordinators a la the Ravens or Cardinals, Coach Kubiak and General Manager Rick Smith have a lot of work to do if we're to improve upon last year's record. Unfortunately, before the staff even attempts to improve our weak areas like the offensive line, secondary, or backfield, they must address deficiencies caused by injury.

Here's a quick rundown of the latest personnel transactions:

Phillip Buchanon, Houston's premier non-primetime defensive back, was released on Monday ostensibly to open up a roster spot for linebacker Kailee Wong. Personally, we like to think Kubiak was just tired of his injuries and "Man to Air" style coverage.

Veteran defensive tackle Lional Dalton was signed after being placed on waivers by the Chiefs. Dalton will take the place of Seth Payne who was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Much to our dismay, Dalton has no relation to James Dalton, a head bouncer at the Double Deuce Club, whose fighting spirit would certainly have helped the rest of the season.

Wide receiver David Anderson was activated from the practice squad, who was then replaced by Florida State product and regrettably named Craphonso Thorpe. For the record, his name is pronounced cra-Fonzo, but that's not funny at all.
