Rainy Thursday

The bad news: It's another rainy morning, and it looks like we may be in for isolated strong storms tonight. The good news: When all this moves through the area, we'll have a beautiful weekend. As long as the city doesn't flood, we're OK with that.

According to the Chronicle, more than two inches of rain have already fallen in parts of northern Harris County and Montgomery County this morning, and another inch or two could fall across the Houston area. What we're seeing are the remains of Tropical Storm Paul, which moved over Mexico from the Pacific this week. Overall, things shouldn't be so bad, but this morning's rain could total five inches in some areas, which could in turn cause isolated flooding where the ground is still saturated from last week's heavy rain. "Paul's remains could cause a significant morning event, probably ending about noon," Joshua Lichter, a senior National Weather Service forecaster, said.

Things should ease off this afternoon, but a cold front passing through tonight could bring some severe storms with it, including isolated tornadoes and damaging wind. That line ot storms is expected to move through College Station around midnight, then be off the coast by 7 a.m.

Temperatures are espected to reach about 80 this afternoon, then start falling in the middle of the night. By the time you wake up tomorrow, it'll be in the low 60s; expect lots of sun and a high around 72 on Fridan, and sunshine and highs in the mid-70s all weekend.
