Saturday shelterporn

Yeah, we know we've been falling down on the Shelterporn job lately — but we promise to turn over a new leaf. For this week, anyway. And it's easy when we're dealing with something like this spectacular townhouse in Montrose (we mean "townhouse" in the classic sense, not in the "50 shoddy Perry Homes crammed onto one lot" sense).

Outside, the house is contemporary, with large windows, curving glass walls overlooking downtown and a pool/spa surrounded by a travertine patio and trellised walkways. And the outdoor area has something we haven't seen in Shelterporn before: a mosquito spray system, which we think should be standard in (or, rather, outside of) all homes. Inside, the rooms are arranged to overlook the pool and the skyline. There's a large living room with a wall of built-in bookshelves , a slate bench and a corner fireplace; the dining room opens into the gourmet kitchen on one side and an outdoor grill on the other. On the second floor are two bedrooms with glass walls overlooking the living areas, one of which has been converted into a media room with a custom wood entertainment center, and on the third floor is a master suite with a large balcony, custom bed, built-in cabinets and a fireplace with an onyx surround. And its own wet bar. Now that's living. Bedrooms: three. Bathrooms: four. Square feet: 3,192. Price: $895,000. [Thanks, CW!]

I do love the little bungalows, but this is too gorgeous to pass up. Especially the view from the balcony. Come on lotto numbers!

I'll tell you what's wrong with a mosquito spray system... living next door to a neighbor with one and being outside when the misting poison is released, it leaves a really nasty taste in your mouth!
