Police are on the lookout for two people who ran over a retired police officer earlier this month — not at the same time, mind you, but in separate incidents, one after the other. Now that's bad luck.
It happened late the night of Oct. 19 when Michael Hamilton, who was an HPD officer for 21 years, was walking to a corner store in southeast Houston. As he walked near Jutland and Bellfort, he was struck by a black-and-brown late 70s model pickup. A witness said the driver of that truck stopped, turned off the truck's headlights, then drove on. And shortly afterward, a brown 2004 or 2005 pickup hit Hamilton; that driver also fled the scene. "It's the worst I have ever heard of," Hamilton's mother, Mary Wright, told KTRK. "I didn't think people could even do that."
A reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the drivers. If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 713.222.TIPS.
