Hint: That's not the smell of money

110106_sewer.jpgIf you've ever thought of the people who spend their days at the Galleria as filthy, stinking rich, well, you might not be all that far off: The mall has recently had problems with raw sewage bubbling onto the sidewalk just outside Neiman Marcus. Uh, gross.

The source of the sewage was apparently a mystery for a while, but city crews went out yesterday and discovered that it was not coming from a city line. "The problem we're experiencing here came from the building on private property," Wes Johnson of the Houston Public Works Department told KTRK. "One of the building officials came out a little earlier saying they were going to try to clean it up and they admitted they had seen this overflowing last Friday night."

If the problem occurs again, the city said it will notify the health department. Meanwhile, we can imagine Neimans employees standing just outside the door, furiously spritzing Shalimar to mask the smell.
