Truck fished out of Clear Lake — but where's the driver?

Investigators are looking for the driver of a truck that crashed through a fence and into Clear Lake early this morning — the truck was fished out of the lake, but there was no driver to be found. Maybe.

According to a security guard at a lakeside hotel, the truck went into the lake near Space Center Boulevard and NASA Parkway at 2:30 a.m. Crews searched the lake for the driver for several hours, but came up empty-handed; when the truck was pulled from the water at about 6 a.m., the driver's side window was down.

There was a guy wandering around the area this morning who seems like he might have been the driver: According to deputies, Webster police found a wet, muddy man walking along Egret Bay Boulevard in the early morning hours; he walked to a nearby hotel and hitched a ride. Police are trying to figure out if that man was the driver of the truck — or, we suppose, whether he just had a rough night trick-or-treating. The cause of the accident isn't known.
