
We thought we’d try a different approach to our music calendar – giving you a few of our picks and a listing of other concerts for the week. If you have a concert suggestion (especially local bands), please e-mail us.
The biggest shows of the week belong to The Who and The Pretenders, back in Houston after a long absence. Aerosmith and Motley Crue come to town this weekend, too, but those bands seem to visit every year. On the alternative rock side, we recommend Kasabian, The Melvins, and She Wants Revenge. Canadian singer/songwriter Bruce Cockburn makes a rare, intimate (and sold out) appearance at the Duck.
Locally, Super Happy Fun Land is showcasing many Houston-area bands on Saturday. Also, we always like the pop/rock genius of The Scattered Pages on Wednesday night. Finally, if you’re a jazz band, you have to catch local boy Robert Glasper tonight, before his new Blue Note CD catches the air of the rest of the U.S.
