Texans Face Bills in Homecoming Match-up

20061117_texans_fans.jpgC'mon! Get happy! The Texans are back from their month long road trip to face the Buffalo Bills in this Sunday's Texans Homecoming game.

The Texans are looking to build some momentum after their victory over Jacksonville. Defeating the Bills would result in the first back-to-back wins of the season. The Bills currently lead the series 2-1 including a win during their previous visit to Reliant in the 2002 season.

Offensive keys to the victory will be opening up the running game by getting the ball down field to Andre Johnson and Eric Moulds, who is facing is old team for the first time since joining the Texans last off-season. The offense faces a few hurdles to launch the game plan. The offensive line is substantially weaker with the loss of tackle Zach Wiegert to a blown ACL. The tasering of Big Fred Weary probably didn't decrease the distraction factor this week either. This week's primary concern has got to be Carr's ability to put the ball down field coming off of the shoulder injury sustained last week.

Defensively, the Texans need to plant quarterback J.P. Losman in the turf a few times and contain running back Anthony Thomas. Thomas has yet to find the end zone but racked up 109 yards against the Colts in his first start last week. As for sacking Losman, the Colts found enough holes in the pass protection to rack up four sacks, which bodes well for the surging Texans D. The D-Unit has averaged only 18 points allowed over the last six games. The trick is continuing to sustain the performance.

One thing's for sure, the Texans need to score the most points if they want to win the game. This game is very winnable for the Texans as long as they convert opportunities and limit the same for the Bills.
