It’s the inevitable curse of the holidays. You will gain weight. You will more than likely eat your weight in turkey and yams, and it will land squarely on your thighs (or hips, or stomach). If you’re like us, you’ll just look at your mom’s apple pie and your pants will get tight.
If you want to make it out of the Thanksgiving holiday not looking like a Butterball, you should check out fitsugar.com. It’s a great site full of tips and tricks for working out and staying healthy. It even includes things you can do at your desk to try to stay fit. So when you get back to work on Monday after days of leftover stuffing and ham, you can do a little chair exercise to ease your conscience.
And of course you can always hit the gym. Bad news for members of 24 Hour Fitness. If you were thinking about squeezing in a pre-Turkey Day meal workout, your membership won’t come in handy. The gyms nationwide are closed. We did call at least one Bally’s whose doors will be open. But our suggestion (hands down) would be take advantage of the fabulous weather and head to Memorial Park. Get your workout done on the amazing jogging trails. You might feel like you need to be in tip-top shape to hang with the seemingly professional joggers, but hey, they all had to start somewhere, too.
