Houstonist is about to head home to get lost in a sea of turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce (in the shape of a can, naturally), mashed potatoes and pie — but before we do, we want to note something we're a little proud of: This week, Houstonist is one year old!
We officially kicked things off Nov. 20, 2005, with news about the bat colony under the Waugh Drive bridge. Of course, that was before the rabid bat scare took hold around here — now they're not so cute, are they? Now, a few thousand posts later, we're happy to say that we're still around. The bats are, too, but they don't know how to blog. Yet.
So, to our readers: Thanks. You're the coolest 11 people we'll ever know. We're taking a couple days off to spend with our families — that's code for "asleep in front of the TV, stuffed with leftovers," in case you didn't catch that — but we'll be back on our regular schedule next week with details about our first birthday party, which you'll all be invited to. Happy Thanksgiving!
