High-speed cycle chase fizzles

120506_caution.jpgThings just didn't go well yesterday for Michael Choate, a 21-year-old guy involved in a high-speed police chase in northwest Harris County yesterday. The chase began around 4:25 p.m. in Jersey Village — it's not clear exactly how — and resulted in Choate weaving through rush-hour traffic at speeds up to 150 mph on his motorcycle.

According to KHOU, Jersey Village cops chased Choate along 290 and its feeder road until Choate left the Jersey Village city limits. He apparently didn't know the JV police had stopped chasing him, so he kept running red lights and dodging cars. Choate eventually found his way back to 290 and Jones Road, where a Jersey Village cop had blocked the feeder road with his police car. Choate stopped to avoid running into the car and the officer reportedly pulled him from his motorcycle and arrested him. Oops.

Choate was taken to the Harris County Jail, where he should have the chance to reflect on his driving record: Channel 11 reports he has racked up more than 70 traffic violations.
