Lights in the Heights

061207_lith.jpgAn annual tradition that Houstonist likes to enjoy is the Lights in the Heights. Walking around the street in the heart of Woodland Heights, with almost every bungalow decorated, carolers and musicians playing Christmas music, it’s the quickest way to get us in the holiday mood. Add the chilly weather to the mix, it makes the experience perfect.

Each year, the Woodland Heights Association picks different streets to host the event. This year, the main thoroughfare will be on Byrne St., Euclid St., and the Norhill Esplanade. However, you’ll find the lights and lawn ornaments on other streets as you walk around.

The best part of the Lights in the Heights is the creativity the residents put into it. The decorations on many of these old bungalows will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a time machine and been transported to 1930. Since many artists live in the area, you can find them outside performing for the passerby’s.

Grab a big cup of eggnog and go walking with us!
