Stealing the spirit of Christmas

121106_grinch.jpgSo really, folks, what is it with people who steal holiday decorations out of other people's yards? First we had the case of the missing baby Jesus, and now we have someone who made off with an enormous decorative carousel. To which we say: carousel?

The 8-foot-tall, $150 carousel was taken from the yard of a house on Estelle Street in the East End. "We took almost three days to put all this stuff up, and now it just took 20 minutes and it's gone," Mike Luna, who lives at the house, said. According to KTRK, Luna figures it took about 20 minutes "for two guys on bikes to sneak into [his] yard and steal part of Christmas." Which is fine and all, but we're not sure how guys on bikes could possibly make off with an 8-foot-tall carousel. But whatever.

The Lunas reported the theft to HPD. Though they're carrying on with their lawn decorating, the loss of the carousel hit the family hard: "It's just like somebody stabbed you in the heart," Mike Luna told Channel 13. "My mother was all crying and everything ... she put her heart into it, and it's hard to see your mother like that."
