There's some good news with regard to the price of gas this week: It has leveled off and looks like it'll stay relatively constant for a while, according to AAA Texas. Of course, it has leveled off at more than $2, which means you might have to take out a loan to fill up your car, but still — we take good news where we can get it.
This week's AAA Texas gas survey showed Houston with the lowest average gas price in the state, at $2.15 (up 0.2 cents over last week). The most expensive gallon of gas is in Austin-San Marcos, at $2.23. And that should be the case through the holidays and possibly into the new year: "With crude oil currently trading near $62 a barrel and OPEC's ministers voting against any immediate production cuts, motorists should continue to see prices near their current levels for the next few weeks of the year," AAA spokeswoman Rose Rougeau told the AP. "However, the cartel has left the door open for production cuts in February."
According to HoustonGasPrices.com, the cheapest gas in town is $2.03 at the Murphy station at 1960 and Eldridge; the most expensive gallon is $2.40 at the Shell station at Richmond and Chimney Rock.
