Don't look now (because you probably wouldn't be able to see anything anyway), but it's foggy again. There's a dense fog advisory for southeast Texas until 10 a.m. today as banks of inland and sea fog combine to bring visibility below an eighth of a mile across much of the area — a lot like yesterday morning.
Yesterday, the fog news focused on airplanes that weren't able to take off or land; today, 45 ships are stuck at docks and 32 are waiting to come in to the ports of Houston, Galveston and Texas City, the Chronicle reports. The shipping lanes haven't officially been closed, Coast Guard Petty Officer Adam Eggarssaid said, but private pilots' groups decided early today to stop traffic until visibility improves. It's not clear when the ships will begin moving again.
Officials say the fog will likely stick around until at least mid-morning — though yesterday, we heard there was still lingering fog in some parts of the area as late as 3 p.m., so who knows? In the meantime, be careful out on the roads and call ahead if you're planning to fly into or out of Houston today.
