Friday Afternoon Videos: White Christmas

We know, it’s not Friday, but Houstonist is in the holiday spirit, and we received several good holiday-video requests, so we decided to extend Friday Afternoon Videos for the whole week this week. (Plus, it’ll help everyday seem like Friday!)

We want to thank Houstonist Flickr Photo Group member Jeff Balke for telling us about this video last month. Going lounge seems to be the thing to do if you’re an aging rock star. But who’d thought that punk rocker Billy Idol would be doing the same so soon? His version of “White Christmas” is a far cry from “White Wedding.” Actually, it’s not too bad. We think that Dean Martin’s soul must have finally found a home in Idol – but Billy kept his sneer and cat-just-ate-the-canary grin for himself.

I half expected him to insert a "White Wedding" bridge into the song.

SAY WHAT YOU WILL,BUT THE MAN HAS ALWAYS HAD A GREAT VOICE...HE STILL HAS YET TO REACH HIS POTENTIAL (NOT TRYING TO SOUND LIKE HIS HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER) I'M SUPRISED THAT HE HASN'T JUMPED ON THE AGING ROCK/POP STAR BANDWAGON- YOU KNOW...IT STARTED WITH ALL THOSE DUET ALBUMS,MOVED ON TO THE "STANDARDS" ALBUMS, AND NOW ,THEY ALL HAVE PUT OUT CHRIASTMAS ALBUMS

Johnny Rotten used to call him the "Perry Como of Punk." He knew it all along. LMAO
