If you ever check out the other -ist sites — and you should — you've probably noticed their spiffy new design. And at long last, just in time for the holidays, the new look has come to Houstonist. Merry Christmaskkah!
We've moved to a two-column format with a cleaner layout. Though things look different, everything you like about Houstonist is still here: features and sections are in the left column now, and our calendar and blogroll have moved over there, too. Be sure to refresh your cache to get everything completely updated on your computer (Control-F5 on Windows or refresh/Apple-R on Macs).
This seems like a good time to remind you, our 11 readers, about some of the fun stuff you can do here:
• Leave us a comment. We know you're reading Houstonist, but most days it's quieter around here than at a meeting of the Sheila Jackson Lee Fan Club. So leave us a comment here and there — it's good karma.
• Recommend stuff. What's the point of recommending a post? It lets other people know what's worth reading (and other people can let you know the same thing). And now the most recommended posts are easier to find, listed at the top of every screen.
• Contribute. If you haven't seen it already, check out Houstonist's Contribute page, where you can send links, leave anonymous tips and share photos of things like skyscrapers and birthday cake.
Enjoy the redesign, and keep reading. Many thanks to Neil Epstein of Gothamist for his hard work.
