A police chase early this morning ended with the two suspects getting away and police finding a shotgun, purse and ski masks in their car. It clearly means something, but Houstonist has no idea what it is: The guys were trying to be as stereotypical as possible while robbing people? In drag?
It all started at about 12:30 a.m. South Main and Buffalo Speedway, where cops noticed a green Chevrolet Malibu driving without its lights on. They tried to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop and led police on an extremely brief chase — about a block — to South Main and Westridge, the suspects bailed out of the car and ran into an apartment complex, where police were unable to catch them.
Police said they found a fully loaded sawed-off shotgun, several ski masks and a purse in the suspects' car. There was damage to the front and rear ends of the car, and according to KHOU, "[police] believe the suspects were involved in a car accident on South Main and the Loop, because the car's bumper was found there." Good thinking.
The suspects are still at large, but police say they may know who was driving the car.
