Cops receive anonymous holiday cash

In an unexpected show of holiday spirit, someone left four Harris County deputy constables an anonymous gift recently: hundred-dollar bills stuck under the windshield wipers of their patrol cars.

No one knows where the money came from, and the cops reportedly thought it was a prank at first — but apparently it was a genuine gift. (We hope there were just four patrol cars parked in the lot, or else some officers are going to feel kind of unloved.) Thing is, by law, the constables can't accept the cash, so the $400 will end up being donated to a social services organization in Humble. That seems like a happy enough ending, we think.

Just a note, though, for anyone else thinking of leaving anonymous donations for public servants: Since they can't be kept, why not redirect your charity to your favorite local blog? Just saying.
