So here's something odd: Yesterday morning, two toddlers were found wandering naked along a League City street. The kids — girls, ages 1 and 2 — were spotted in the 400 block of Perkins around 8 a.m.; after some searching, police found the apartment where the kids lived. Their mom and grandmother were asleep, and the apartment was reportedly dirty and unsafe, KTRK reported:
"There was food strewn about the floor of the apartment," said Sgt. Dan Krieger with the League City Police Department. "There were knives on the floor, scissors on the floor. It was filthy. There was feces. There was urine. It was horrible living conditions for those girls."
The mother's boyfriend told police he might have left the door unlocked when he left the apartment and said the mother knew the door might have been unlocked. She hasn't been arrested, but faces two counts of child endangerment.
The wandering girls and two others in the apartment, one six months old and one 7 years old, were taken into protective custody, and League City police have started taking donations for them and the foster family they're with. "We are seeking any additional clothes, toys, or child care products for the children and foster family," Krieger said. To help, drop off items at the League City Police Department, 500 W. Walker St.; for more info, call Officer Sean Arena at 281.332.2566, ext. 885.
