All this week we're featuring our favorite photos from a year of great contributions to the Houstonist Flickr Photo Group. They're all our favorites in different ways, but there were four that stood out as jewels amongst the gems.
This first shot is from Katya (slight_clutter), a frequent contributor and a most excellent photographer. There were a lot of her shots we considered, including this one, but this shot was just perfect and iconic. If you want one shot of Houston that doesn't involve any buildings, this is it.
It reminds us of the philosopher Heraclitus, who famously said that "one can't step in the same river twice." He might as well have been talking about Houston, which is constantly in a state of change. Nevertheless, the scenery changes but we retain our spirit.
Also, double props to Katya for dating within the Houstonist Flickr Group. That's commitment.
