Saturday shelterporn

Houstonist's new year's resolution: More shelterporn in 2007! To kick things off, we take you to this ultra-cool house in Glenbrook Valley, the jet-era neighborhood along Broadway just north of Hobby Airport. Because we have a soft spot for mid-century modern homes, Glenbrook is one of our favorite neighborhoods in Houston (and we've shelterporned there before, in case you've forgotten).

The house — which has only had two owners since it was built in 1955 — still has a lot of its mid-'50s features intact, including neon cove lighting (some of which is pink!), vintage tile baths, cedar closets, an amazing martini bar and a built-in projector. There are also vaulted ceilings, a rather futuristic mural (behind the martini bar, natch), Roman brick walls and an expansive back patio, the ideal setting to cook some appetizing 1950s meat dishes.

Needless to say, it's unusual to find this kind of home in this condition at this price. A little TLC, a few pieces of mid-century furniture and you'd be set — just remember to invite us over for martinis. Bedrooms: three. Bathrooms: two. Square feet: 3,419. Price: $295,000.
