For non-local shows, our pick of the week has to be singer/songwriter Patty Griffin. Even though she now calls Austin home, she rarely (if ever) plays in Houston. Technically, she’s not playing in Houston, but Conroe’s Crighton Theatre (which looks like a great venue) is close enough. The Incubus show at Verizon Wireless should be good, too.
Some other interesting shows include Jeff Daniels (yes, the actor) at the Duck. Yes, he sings and plays guitar – hopefully, he’ll leave the Dumb & Dumber skits off the stage.
Also, Stafford Centre is doing their best to keep 70’s music alive. Styx plays there Thursday night (without Dennis DeYoung, which means it won’t be a rock-opera), and “Don’t It Make my Brown Eyes Blue” Crystal Gayle, along with all of her hair, plays on Saturday night.
For local music, we recommend The Suspects reunion concert. The popular local ska band from the 90’s is back for one-time only.

the suspects - YEY! lanky - right on! Incubus-huh? they are alive? I thought the California rock craze ended when Blink 182 turned 30. :-) or when travis barker got too cool for the band. then he got to cool for shana moakler.
The Patty Griffin show is sold out. Sadly. I was so excited.
Thanks for the info, Margaret. I hate to hear that, too. I was so excited to see that she was coming down our way. I've only been able to see her once at the first ACL festival in Austin years ago.
I checked the Conroe date first and when I realized it was sold out I STRONGLY considered driving to New Braunfels to see her the day before. But it's sold out too.
