Here's a Houstonist Fashion Tip: If you're a fan of expensive high-fashion shoes but you don't have the money to actually buy them, it's probably better not to steal someone's credit card and go on a shopping spree. Try Harwin instead — sure, your knockoff Manolo Blahniks might fall apart in a few months, but at least you won't be hunted by the cops like a trio of people HPD says indulged their expensive tastes at someone else's expense.
According to police, a man and woman used a stolen credit card to buy two pair of women's shoes ($395 each) at Neiman Marcus at the Galleria the evening of Nov. 6. They later returned to the store and tried to buy another pair, but left when the staff asked for ID — a move that wasn't suspicious at all, right? The next evening, the man showed up at Neiman's with another woman and bought a pair of men's Prada shoes, also valued at $395.
There's no physical description for the man, but he didn't seem concerned about dressing discreetly: On his second trip to the store, he wore a white golf cap, bright plaid shirt and shorts. The first woman is described as having short hair and wearing jeans and a short-sleeved knit top; the second woman was short with a medium build and wore jeans, brown boots, a dark red shirt and a fuzzy black hat. And just in case it crossed your mind, no, the guy isn't well-known shoe horse Jordy Tollett — all three suspects are black.
Anyone with information on the case should call Crime Stoppers at 713.222.TIPS.
