Toadally Awesome

011907_frogs.jpgThe Houston Museum of Natural Science couldn't have timed the opening of Frogs! A Chorus of Colors any better. With all the rain we've seen this week, it's almost as if Houston's frog population is coming to out lend support.

The exhibit includes over 200 live frogs (because dead frogs would just be, uh, wrong) from all over the world. Learn about these amphibians and their unique ecosystems, and how these ecosystems are threatened with environmental changes.

All the buzz in the frog world (sorry Kermit) seems to be around the exhibit's dart poison frogs. Found mostly in the tropical areas of Central and South America, dart poison frogs are so named because the native South Americans make poison darts by rubbing the tip of the dart in (warning: finish lunch before proceeding) the poison mucus of the frog's skin.

It ain't easy being green (or blue, or red, or yellow).
