On the South Loop this morning, a story out of a dime novel: A dead woman was found stuffed under a motel room bed, and police aren't sure why she was there. The woman was found at the South Loop Inn at the Loop and Telephone Road at about 1:30 this morning; police say she had checked into the motel earlier this week and was with a man at the time, but that's pretty much all they know at this point.
"We did in fact find a woman in the room," confirmed HPD Sgt. Odon Belmarez. "She checked in on the 15th. She was found to be hidden inside the room. At this point that's really all we have. We don't know what her cause of death is. We're waiting for ME to see if there are any possible injuries."
Belmarez told KPRC that the configuration of the room made police think the woman was put under the bed after she died, but they don't know whether she was murdered or died accidentally. The man who was with the woman when she checked in wasn't at the motel when the body was found, police said. "He is someone that we have to talk to," Belmarez said. "It's too early to say if he is a suspect or if he was here and witnessed an overdose."
If you happen to know anything about this case, call HPD at 713.308.3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713.222.TIPS.
