Calling all sports writers

Being a sports fan in Houston is a life of ups and downs: When the local teams are up, they're fantastic; when they're down, they're really, really down. But either way, we know Houstonians love sports — and that's why we're looking for a couple of dedicated writers who live and breathe local sports to contribute to Houstonist.

Sports contributors should be able to write, have the time to post at least a couple of times a week and, most important, should live and breathe sports. That includes everything from the pro teams to college to high school (we'll draw the line there — you don't have to cover the exciting world of middle school sports unless something really exciting happens). Basically, if it's sports-related and has to do with Houston, we want it covered.

If you think you're up to the task, drop us an e-mail at write (at) houstonist (dot) com and tell us your name, a little about yourself and your specific interests. Also send us a sample post — about 250 words or so on any sports-related topic you're interested in, just so we can get a feel for your style.

We'll be accepting applications until the end of the day Wednesday, Jan. 31, a week from today, so contact us soon if you want to be a part of Houstonist. We can't wait to hear from you!
