Houston stories begin airing on NPR this week

012507_radio.jpgYou might remember our earlier post about the StoryCorps MobileBooth coming to Houston. Unfortunately, all the reservations for interviews are filled, but that means that it's time for the Houston stories to begin airing.

The collection of Houston interviews that will air on NPR include some big famous-for-Houston names, including Mayor White's mother. She was interviewed by her daughter-in-law (and First Lady of Houston) Andrea White about her childhood in San Antonio. And if you thought you loved Leon Hale's stories about Winedale or the talking mule, you'll love listening to him discuss death, writing, and his wife. As it turns out, just because you refer to your "partner" in every column you write, it doesn't mean you're gay.

What: Houston interviews on StoryCorps

When: Mondays at 6:35 am and 4:44 pm

Where: KUHF 88.7 FM

How much: Free, if you can live with the guilt brought on by the pledge drive.
