Good morning, Houston! Sure, you might have had some bad experiences on the bus when you were in school, but we're willing to bet your bus driver never passed out at the wheel like one did in Magnolia yesterday. The driver had just dropped a student off on FM 1488 when she passed out; fortunately, a 9-year-old passenger called 911 on his cell phone and got help. Looks like the driver had a heart attack, according to KHOU; she's in the hospital in Tomball.
>> Out of the frying pan, into debtors' prison: Ricky Oliver, a Huntsville man who is believed to have been infected by flesh-eating bacteria during a December hunting trip, is recovering well after two skin grafts and several surgeries — but now he's facing $100,000 in medical bills, and he doesn't have medical coverage. The good news, though: A fundraiser will be held in mid-May to help Oliver with his bills (and there'll be team roping and barbecue, too).
>> Fords: worth dying for?: Looks like thieves are going nuts over Ford pickup trucks — every month since May, the trucks have topped HPD's list of the most-stolen cars in Houston, and this weekend, a Dominos pizza delivery man was shot to death before having his Ford stolen. Thieves target F-150s for parts and F-250s and 350s for other things: "They're taking the rear seat out of the pickup trucks and we're being told you can put anywhere from 12 to 15 illegal aliens inside that truck," HPD Officer Jim Woods said.
>> Wandering boy in foster care: An 8-year-old boy found wandering along North MacGregor Way on Sunday has been placed in foster care while Child Protective Services tries to figure out his situation: The boy had bruises all over his body when he was found, raising questions about abuse, but his father said he has serious behavioral problems. The boy's family will appear in court today.
>> Today's weather: Yeah, it's kind of rainy-ish and 50-ish now, but hey, there's something to look forward to — more rain this afternoon, with a high around 53. (Hey, we didn't say it was something good to look forward to, right?) But after work, things should clear off, giving us an overnight low in the upper 30s.
Now, if you just can't get enough news, you're in luck — check the jump for more headlines.
